APEEF Solidarity Fund (Fond de Solidarite)

The purpose of the Solidarity Fund is to provide assistance to the families with children at Jacques Prevert within the framework of the child's daily life at school.

The Fund not only aids families that already receive a grant but also those without one on a case-by-case basis. The Fund works in close collaboration with the school director.

The primary costs subsidized by the Fund in the past five years include:

  • The portion of the school fees not covered by a school grant where it isn't a 100% grant (The Fund is unable to cover the full cost of a trimester)
  • Cantine costs or school - fees for the APEEF sport clubs (a trimester or full year)
  • "Green Class" fees
  • any request which is related to school activities will be considered by the Fund

Financing the Fund

The Fund is financed through fund raising events organised by the APEEF throughout the year. The better known events include the fortnightly sale of pains au chocolat and the June school fair. Other events include the biennial Winter Ball. The Fund can also ask for ressources from the APEEF treasury which is funded by contributions at the beginning of the school year as well as voluntary donations.

Confidentiality

In order to maintain confidentiality of those involved only two people are responsible for the Fund:

  • Myriam Vander Elst (APEEF representative to the Grants Committee (Comité des Bourses) that reviews the grant applications files addressed to the French Consulate (Consulat General de France)
  • The APEEF president (Olivier Scaramucci)

Applying for assistance from the Fund

Simply contact Myriam Vander Elst by leaving a note in the APEEF letter box (outside secretary's office) or directly in the main door mailbox.

Alternatively, you can contact Olivier Scaramucci or the school director, Mr Gachet, who will forward your request to the Fund. We endeavour to keep the same team from one year to the next to ensure that confidentiality is maintained and the applications are dealt with expediently.

It is never too late to ask for our help. The Fund can help, be it short or long term.
